THROUGH THE LENS WELCOMES YOU
Through the Lens is photography taken by young artitist, Chelsie Jones. Based in the Charleston area of South Carolina, Through the Lens is a unique portfolio that focuses on abandoned architecture. Many old buildings give a story about the lives that used to wander through them.

The Photographer
ABOUT
Chelsie was a student at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art with a focus on Photography.
Since starting her undergraduate studies she has planned on becoming a graphic designer but has since seen many different media’s in the arts that have piqued her interest. It was a Pentax camera that opened her eyes to the openness that was photography, and the freedom to capture anything that her eyes saw as potentially unique. It was her senior seminar that really influenced the photographer she has become today. Her seminar was based on abandoned buildings printed as a cyanotype. Something about an old fallen structures, and the humans innate curiosity at the unknown, that lead her to becoming the artist she is today.
Urban Photography has become her niche and she continues to drive around looking of for the next decaying structure to explore and capture.
Memories
Goals Behind the Photos
The purpose of my abandoned photography is to bring beauty to the rust and decay of what was once under the impression of beautiful. People tend to think that new and unused things are whats attractive. My goal is to show that well worn buildings and other possessions can be a true vision under the dust and cobwebs.

Hidden Treasures
Urban Architecture
Most of the photos have been based out of architecture in South Carolina, but in future endeavors I would love to have photos from all of the world that have examples of these hidden gems.

Ideal Photo
Abandoned Farms
My personal favorite things to photograph are barns. There is something about them that excites me and has me rushing to get a photograph them. The tattered roofing, the fallen boards, and usually the colors on them are a composition dream come true!
